Waves to surf at Hudhuranfushi

Below is a list of the various waves that around Hudhuranfushi. There is a dedicated surf team at the resort who run daily boat transfers ensuring you are always surfing at the best times of the day.

Lohi’s

A long grinding left-hander that breaks off Hudhuranfushi Resort – highly regarded as the Maldives most consistent wave and has hosted professionals surfers such as Gabriel Medina, Felipe Toledo, Matt Wilkinson, Owen Wright just to name a few. Go deep and get barrelled off the take-off and then rip the wall apart or just pick off the wide sets and enjoy a freight train ride all the way to the end section.

Jailbreaks:

A long down the line right-hander with 3 different sections offering rides of up to 300m.

Honkey's:

A mellow and super fun wave with a relaxed takeoff. Super rippable but not the most consistent wave in the area.

Sultans:

Sultans is one of the most user friendly rights on planet earth. With long, rippable walls walls and some incredible barrel sections. Don’t get put off by the crowds, this wave is long and has multiple take off spots. Other, than Lohis, this is the next most consistent wave in the area!

Ninjas:

Ninjas is a fun right hander and perfect for surfers of the beginner to intermediate level. lower level surfers to have fun on. It is directly across the channel from Lohis, although it looks close we do not recommend paddling as the currents can be extremely strong.

Cokes:

A right-hander which breaks 3-10ft and is fairly protected from the southerly winds that may affect other breaks such as Lohis. This wave has been well photographed and is the hollowest in the North Male atoll. Cokes surf break will test your tube-riding ability.

Chickens:

A left hander and is known as one of the fastest wave in the North Male atoll. This wave holds swell size from 3ft to well over 10ft and provides rides up to 500m long.

Ninjas:

Besides Lohis, “Ninjas” is the closest break to Hudhuranfushi. A mellower right-hander perfect for long-boarding or just cruising on the fish... best at 2-3ft.

Best Resort Surf Experience

“Richard and Amy have created a Maldivian surfing Mecca that would be difficult to beat anywhere. A world famous left hander out front, numerous nearby reef breaks offering something for surfers of every level, luxury surfer’s accommodation, bar, restaurant and a great team of staff all eager to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. It’s an upscale surf camp within a luxury resort. We were often the only group in the water, sad only to see many perfect waves going unridden due to their abundance

Luxurious resort with un-crowded waves

“Stayed in a Lohis room for 7 nights & my husband had the surf pass. All surfers got a 30min Chinese massage. As a partner of a surfer I got to spend $50 US per day. Did yoga, had a spa massage in Chevana spa, did a snorkelling trip was fantastic where we saw turtles, sharks, stingrays and beautiful colourful fish. The whole island is so pretty. Staff were very friendly. Food was amazing! Upgraded to an ocean villa for the last night! ”
